Practice Stategy

I would like to incorporate more of the practice strategy into my classroom, but I have around 80 students in the gym right now so it is kind of hard. I usually have to just do basic drills and move on. It would be nice to give them more time to build on their skills they learn throughout the course of the class.

Snowboarding

I took my first personal day last Friday and hit up the slopes at MT. Hood. It was awesome. We skied two days and one night. The night skiing was a little icy, but the day skiing was perfect. It hit about 50 degrees outside and all the runs were fairly un-tracked which meant for for lots of powder riding for me and the girlfriend. I will be teaching again on Monday, but it was a good reprieve before classes the following week!

I would love to get some comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Missing Class For Class

It is crazy every two weeks we have to miss the classes we are teaching to go to class. I can't wait until I can just teach my students for two weeks without having to leave every other week and not know were they are at when I get back! Guess that life when you are a student teacher! I can't wait tell my title is just teacher!!!! I bet a lot of you feel the same way!

IF YOU DO LEAVE A COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Presidential Fitness Testing

We are starting our unit on presidential fitness testing tomorrow. It will be a good time to see where all of our students are compared to United States average. I think that they will do very well just because most of them are very athletic and have the ability to do the specific skills that are asked of them. My cooperating teacher told me that lots of our kids do not meed the standards because of their lack of flexibility. Flexibility is something that we have been working on over the last few week so hopefully we will see some improvement tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have some random stuff to add about my posting I would love to hear it.

PE IS FUN

All last term I spent inside the classroom teaching health. For those of you who know me I am very energetic and could not wait to get into the PE side of things. Now, for my second placement I am teaching PE at Bake Middle School and it is awesome the students are so excited to participate and interact!!!

I hope that are are having blast with there B placements and are enjoying teaching!!!!!

Discipline

We have a cell phone policy at Baker Middle School. I had a student in one of my health classes who’s cell phone fell out of his pocket and landed on the floor in front of me. I was not sure what to do in this situation he was clearly not on his phone it just fell out of his pocket. I ended up taking his phone to the office because of the school rules. I felt bad later because it was like punishing a child for not doing anything wrong. The only reason I took the phone was because of the fact that the rule states that if we as teacher even see a cell phone in our classroom we are supposed to take it and give it to the office. The student was very upset and did not participate in class the rest of the day. I think that he felt I did it out of principle and really did not need to take it. I guess my question to anyone who reads this is: If a student is not using a cell phone but it is seen throughout the school day should we take it and give it to the office?

If anyone has an opinion about this topic please share!!!!!!

Great Day

The other day we started our first dance lesson at Baker Middle School. the dances we did were the bunny hop, the electric slide, the hustle, and the chicken dance. It was so much fun!!! I had students that went above and beyond to learn the dances and seemed to really enjoy to be involved in something new that they had not yet learned. I think that it is always good to find new lessons that students have never been a part of instead of continually teaching the basic basketball, baseball, football, and soccer.
